BIG FISH THINK TANK
The Portfolio of Colin Hanock
My name is Lawrence Colin Hancock, but I also exist as "Big Fish" or as @TechieTacoTrain on social media and Discord. I like long walks backstage, music, and essays or stories about an endless array of subjects.
I hold a BA in Theater with a Minor in History, with plans to pursue higher education. While I am a practiced and capable carpenter and stagehand, my passion lies in producing and analyzing narratives and essays, and in the creation of theater through a combination of techniques both old and new.
I have additionally been known to produce memorable rants and have an exhaustive collection of Spotify playlists that I will share with abandon.

METATHEATRE, MODIFIED REALITY, AND THE MUPPETS
Because they are metatheatric, the Muppets have created theatre that is then televised, instead of simply creating a television program – that they exist not only within the confines of their media makes them metatheatric, and they bring that theatricality to the audience watching via the proscenium of the camera lens.

THE EMERGENCE OF MODERNITY
The moniker “early modern” refers to the period of worldwide growth between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries. The most obvious period this covers, from a Eurocentric viewpoint, is the European Renaissance. The advances in philosophy and technology in the Renaissance period mark the shift to a more modern viewpoint for many scholars; certainly, these changes laid the framework.
THEATER AND POLITICS IN ELIZABETHAN ENGLAND
Music, sculpture, paintings, books, theater; all of these exist not purely as a form of entertainment, but also as a means to convey thoughts evocative of the period they came from. Theater especially presents a powerful conduit, especially into the minds of a populace; it allows an audience to view the world around them through the eyes of another. The theater offers not only stories to entertain and captivate us, but a chance to learn and grow as a society.
